Single-Variety GRadona Rice: Exclusively Greek Production, Featuring the Carnaroli Variety
Embarking on Italian Tradition in Greek Soil
We proudly introduce our latest creation, GRadona Arborio Rice. This exceptional variety, locally cultivated in the Kalochori region of Thessaloniki, is the Carnaroli type with small, delicate grains. Named after the town of Arborio in northern Italy, where it is meticulously grown, this rice takes center stage in beloved dishes like risotto and rice pudding.
Our Premium Choice for Culinary Delights
At GRadona, we’ve expanded our offerings to include Arborio rice, enriching Greek gastronomy with the authentic Italian touch. The Carnaroli variety was carefully selected for its remarkable resistance to cooking and its ability to impart a sumptuous, creamy texture to dishes. Our Arborio rice adheres rigorously to the standards of organic production, ensuring a product of the utmost quality and upholding our commitment to excellence.
Embracing the Distinct Properties
GRadona’s Arborio rice stands out for its unique attributes that enhance nutrition and gastronomy. The region of Kalochori, Thessaloniki, lies just below sea level, resulting in soils with elevated salinity compared to other areas. Capitalizing on this soil characteristic, we chose the Carnaroli variety, which boasts nearly 90% amylose content in our soils.
When heated in water at temperatures of 50-60 degrees Celsius, the starch within the rice begins to gelatinize, resulting in a creamy consistency. Our rice, with its 90% amylose content, gelatinizes rapidly and effortlessly, rendering it delectable and ideal for a variety of dishes.
Versatility in the Kitchen
GRadona’s single-variety Carnaroli rice excels as the perfect choice for risotto. Its high amylose content ensures quick and consistent gelatinization, making it a favorite among experienced chefs for risotto preparation. However, its culinary applications extend far beyond, infusing flavors into dishes like dolmades, stuffed vegetables, and diverse soups such as meat or chicken broth. Moreover, it presents an excellent option for rice pudding, bringing a delightful twist to this classic dessert.
